Fortunately, there are some options out there for people who are looking for an over the counter test to determine if they have any of the various STDs. These include Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.
Hepatitis B and C
Whether you’re infected with hepatitis B or C, or you’re planning to be, hepatitis screening is very important. It’s also an opportunity to educate clients on risk factors and prevention strategies.
Hepatitis B and C can both cause long-term liver problems. Hepatitis B and C are often transmitted through sharing needles. Viral hepatitis is one of the most common infectious diseases, and it causes around 1.5 million deaths a year.
Acute hepatitis B usually goes away within 6 months, but chronic hepatitis B can lead to liver damage. Antiviral drugs such as interferon are used to treat the disease. Using interferon can reduce the risk of developing liver cancer.
Hepatitis I & II (4th generation)
Whether or not a person is hepatitis C positive or not, testing a person’s blood for the viral genome is a best practice. There are a number of reasons. It is a good way to identify who is at highest risk for transmission. Identifying the carrier also reduces the risk of a life-threatening disease. Testing can be done at your local drugstore or clinic.
The test should be run as soon as possible. The optimal time for a person to be tested for hepatitis C is 6 months after an estimated onset of the disease. This test is the best way to catch someone before they can spread the disease.
Trichomoniasis
Among the five sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), Trichomoniasis (trich) is the most commonly diagnosed and curable. It is caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis. Trichomonas vaginalis is a protozoan (simple-structured) parasite. It is the most common sexually transmitted disease in women, and it is transmitted by sexual contact.
Trichomoniasis can be diagnosed through a physical exam and laboratory tests. The test may include a rapid antigen test, nucleic acid amplification test, and a microscope. It is important to seek medical care if you have any of the symptoms, such as a recurrent or severe infection, or if you have had a recent vaginal infection.
If your trich test is positive, you will need to take antibiotics to treat the infection. Antibiotics are necessary to kill the trichomoniasis and prevent it from spreading. Antibiotics are generally administered for seven days.
Gonorrhea
Using an at-home STD test kit is a fast and easy way to detect the presence of gonorrhea. You can get results within two to five days.
There are four at-home gonorrhea tests on the market. Each one can test for different STIs. The table below compares them. The tests will also let you know what type of results you can expect.
Gonorrhea is an STD that can be contracted through sexual contact. It causes pain and inflammation in the testicles and is also a risk factor for developing HIV, a virus that causes AIDS. This infection is treatable using antibiotics.
A positive at-home gonorrhea test indicates that you have the infection. You will also need to be tested for other STIs. It is recommended that you be tested for gonorrhea at least three months after treating your infection. This way, you can be sure you are not reinfected by your sexual partner.
Syphilis
During your pregnancy, it’s important to be tested for syphilis. It can cause a number of problems, including miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth. If you have syphilis, it’s also important to treat it as early as possible. It’s especially dangerous for unborn babies.
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that affects anyone who is sexually active. It’s most common among gay men and young men. People can also get it by having sex with other people who have it.
Syphilis can cause long-term health problems, such as blindness, paralysis, and organ damage. It can also lead to infections that can cause stillbirth.
If you are pregnant, it is important to get tested for syphilis, gonorrhea, and hepatitis C as soon as possible. You can also get vaccines for these diseases.
Chlamydia
Having a chlamydia test can be done in several ways. You can use an at-home kit or have a doctor perform the test for you. If you are under 25, you should get tested annually. Getting tested often can reduce the chances of getting a chlamydia infection.
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease, meaning it’s transmitted through sexual contact. It’s one of the most common STIs, and it’s totally curable with the right medication. The infection can cause testicular pain, genital swelling, and painful urination. It can also lead to pelvic inflammatory disease. Often, women don’t know they have chlamydia until it becomes a major problem.
